Formula E was founded with the mission to showcase the potential of sustainable mobility by racing electric vehicles through the streets of the world’s most iconic cities. Featuring top racing drivers and teams, the series aims to bring electric vehicles to the forefront in the quest for a cleaner, better future.

At the inaugural Monaco E-Prix in May 2015, the cars competed on a shortened version of the famous circuit due to their limited range, which made completing a full race on the traditional Formula 1 track impossible.

However, since 2021, electric cars have been racing the full Monaco circuit, demonstrating the significant technical advancements made in the series. The Monaco E-Prix, held in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022, has become a regular event in the ABB Formula E World Championship, following approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council in June 2021.
